Doña Oliva and Don Marcelo tell us: Our agaves are planted in the central valleys every summer before the rainy season. We do the work of cultivation, we take care of them for a period of 7 to 10 years from weeds and pests, and we don’t use harmful pesticides.

Our family has been dedicated to producing Mezcal for four generations.  Since they were children, Doña Olivia Martínez and Don Marcelo Santiago Méndez were already working in the Palenque (mezcal’s production site). At a very young age Don Marcelo bought a horse with which he traveled to several mezcal factories to grind maguey, with time acquiring a lot of knowledge. Fate brought the couple together and they set up their own Palenque, where they made their very own mezcal, distributing it to Mexico City by railroad at the beginning. Since then, they have been perfecting their process without leaving behind the tradition, the artisanal process, sustaining the flavor and quality of their mezcal. They are guiding their family into the future of many generations as master mezcal makers.
